charlita Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I clicked through on both Priceline and HOTWIRE links on this site and this is what I found so far.Nothing great through Hotwire so I named my own price with Priceline.Followed the advice given to another poster and started at 68 for 4* increasing price as I added downtown zones.Ended at $82 having added SOMA, USE, USW, EMB, Civic Ctr No, Civic Ctr. So. and adding 3.5* levelI didn't get anything. Now I haven't used Priceline a lot but my trip is about a month away. I have a free place to stay in Oakland but I thought it would be nice to score a fancy hotel in the city. So I have some time.Do you think I can get something 3.5-4* for under $90? How long do I have to wait to start bidding all over again and go up to $90? Does it lock me out for a certain time period? I don't want to go down in stars or add zones too far out of the city. Thanks for any advice you can give!
AaronJB Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Rates do vary by date, and unfortunately these dates are moderately more expensive and will require a higher bid. What would be your desired max budget per night? 4* under $90 would appear unlikely, but hopefully not too much higher above that level (I'm guessing maybe $110-125, depending on the zone.)If you make a particular bid, you are locked out from making that exact bid for another 24 hours. You can also use re-bidding, as discussed in this thread: Priceline re-bidding.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
charlita Posted June 8, 2011 Author Report Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks for the help!I will check out the rebidding link.Bummer these dates are higher but I have some time to work it out.I think I could go up in price or maybe come down in * level, I'll play around with it. Which zones do you think are lower (around $110) for the 4*?
thereuare Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Which zones do you think are lower (around $110) for the 4*?USE and/or Financial-Embarcadero... but to improve your chances i'd include all zones which are acceptable at the 4* level, so i'd include USW too if that is acceptable for your needs this trip (as well as any others)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
