rvonoven Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Hi,Can you please provide a bidding strategy for the following areas, CPS, MTW, TS. For these 3 areas we are sure they are good. If any other area is also ok for first time tourist please let me know.We would like to stay in 3* or better. So far we have gone up to 135.I am willing/needing to go up untill I have one, but don't want to overprice of course. Retail prices for 3* are show as +/- 240.Do you think it is a good idea to wait and try a couple more weeks on lower bids, then raising it?I know it's hard to 'pridict?' but please let me know your experiance. Thanks in advance,Robin
AaronJB Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)CPS/MTW/TS are fine for tourism, but MTE is also very nice, as well (although a couple of the 3.5/3*'s in the zone are a bit out of the way.) What bids have you made so far (in terms of star rating/zone?) Additionally, what would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

rvonoven Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 Can you please help with a bidding strategy? We would like to have a 3* or better hotel in the following areas; CPS, MTW, TS.We have bid daily for these three zones up to 150.Our maximum at the moment is 160.O, and in the future I will be using the betterbidding link. :)
thereuare Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Before moving forward... there are some caveats to be aware of in the zones you're bidding when seeking less than 4 stars. The CPS zone contains the Hudson Hotel which has extremely small rooms (~150sq ft)... would this be an acceptable outcome? I assume you have also considered the MSG and ESB zones, both of which often work well for the average user too? Thanks for using the PRICELINE link on the board for your future bidding (and please click this PRICELINE link before replying)Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. rvonoven Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 After reading about the extremely small rooms in cps hotels for less then 4* hotels we would only like to bid on 4* hotels. We would like to add the msg and esb zones. So now we have cps, mtw, ts, msg, esb. We saw that the prices for our last day is very expensive. For some hotels this day is 30% more expensive. Therefore we have two options:9/2/11 - 9/7/11Or9/2/11 - 9/6/11At the moment our max is 180. I know there's a big change i need to go up after a couple of weeks. Thanks again.
thereuare Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 ....we would only like to bid on 4* hotels. We would like to add the msg and esb zones...Currently there are no 4* hotels offered in the MSG zone so that is not an option if you're only sticking to 4* rated hotels. Also, previously you were willing to bid MTE at the 4* level, is this no longer an option? Please confirm if MTE is acceptable or not and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. rvonoven Posted June 16, 2011 Author Report Posted June 16, 2011 I did ask what other zones would also be ok for first time tourists. But I decided MTE is no option. You mentioned the Hudson hotel in CPS. Are there any other known 3* hotels in our zones that have these small rooms?Because if there aren't any I will lose the CPS zone and will bid on the other zones for 3 and 4 stars.
thereuare Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 You don't need to bid the same zones at the 4* level which you do at the 3.5* level. For instance you could bid CPS and/or MTE at the 4* level... but then when dropping to 3.5* not include these zones (and add others, such as MSG)It's NYC so relatively speaking (vs. other parts of the country) rooms are generally small, it's just that at the Hudson they're extremely small.I think you're trying to cover too many options at the moment (split dates, 4*/3.5*/3*, zones), so let's take it one step at a time... what do you want to try first?Star rating: ____Dates: ____Zones: ____Let us know the above (and your maximum bid if it's changed from $180 based upon a different star level) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
