Priceline Hotel: Need 3* and up in downtown Washington

I have been bidding for 3 weeks and have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know if there is something big happening where all the rooms are booked?

It's getting close to the date and I'm getting nervous, I'd really like to get something in the next day or two.

These dates are - unfortunately - extremely expensive with availability limited. Which zones have you bid for, and what would be your desired budget per night?

Why is availability limited?

I had started out 2 weeks ago at $120, but started lowering becuase everyone else bidding is getting under $100. I am willing to go up to $140 per night, but would like to get the cheaper rates

Do you know why it's so limited?

I would like to stay within walking distance to Capital Hill

There is a Drug Information Association conference taking place which i don't see any statistics for but from the number of sessions offered it appears to be fairly large... and this is in addition to any rallies, protests, government meetings, etc, etc which occur fairly frequently. I also found a few smaller conferences during the latter half of this stay and a jazz festival.

What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel in this area thru conventional booking channels?

Where do I go to check those rates?

Expedia, Orbitz, etc.

This will give you a sense of whether rates for your specific dates are low, average, or high and you can adjust your bidding accordingly.
