Hi Guys, my wife and I are spending a month in the USA for our honeymoon, two weeks of which will be in Vegas.

We are hoping to get a 5* for the whole two weeks, and from what I have seen here it's possible to get the Venetian or Palazzo at around the $130 mark.

Our days are October 5th til October 19th but I've had zero success so far (have been trying with your PRICELINE link).

Should I try bidding on just a single night and then if successful add the extra 13 nights?

Also I plan on giving the check-in clerk a $50 sandwich for an upgrade, any reports of success with this?

Thanks for your advice!

Cheers,

Clueless Aussie Tourist :)

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Rates can vary substantially from day-to-day and from season-to-season, and rates for other dates may not reflect what is required for your dates. Additionally, it is more difficult at times and in some markets to get the best deal when having two weeks straight - would you be willing to split your stay? What would be your desired max budget per night?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I'll add that for your complete stay, based upon current prices, i think it will take somewhat more than $130 for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone (probably closer to $185-$200/nite... a few nites of this stay are very expensive). However, you could likely get a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone within your budget.

Thanks for the replies.

It was my understanding that if you are sucessful in winning a single night, then priceline allows you

to add additional nights to your stay.

We'd like to spend no more than $2400 on the hotel for the two weeks. We looked at Vdara and while

it's quite nice is it safe walking distance to the strip?

Not exactly...

1) you can only add up to the same number of nites as your original bid. So if you win a hotel for one nite you can try to add one nite, win for 2 nites you can try to add up to 2 additional nites, etc, etc... you CAN'T purchase one nite and then try to add 13 additional nites.

2) even when given the option to add additional nites, there is no assurance that rooms will be available for the additional nite(s). PRICELINE can come back with:

  • no rooms available for the additional nite(s)
  • rooms are available but not at the same price (and you'll be given the option to accept/reject the higher price for the additional rooms
  • you get accepted for the additional nites and are now confirmed for those nites as well

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
