When rates get extreme such as for this nite, it becomes much more difficult to guess as what it will likely take to succeed, since you're so far away from 'typical' demand... and there may not be any discounted inventory offered to the opaque suppliers.

At times such as this i think you need to look at your best options and adjust your bidding limit accordingly. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

The Hilton Garden Inn Evanston is $139 on Expedia. While still expensive and non-refundable, it is an option outside the city that is convenient to transit (the hotel is a block from both a Metra and CTA station. Hotels further out in the burbs that would not be as close to transit (you would have to have a car to get to transit) would be significantly cheaper.
