blindfaith Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 I manage to always make Seattle more difficult than it ought to be, mainly because I'm cheap and I'm open to about 6 zones. Criteria for this visit: to stay in the 3* range for under $50, preferably with free internet and free parking, but open to paying for either if the price was right. Seattle always seems higher than I think it ought to be though. :) We are going over for a kid sporting event the night of June 10 and decided to make a full weekend of it. Since we only needed to be in Bellevue/Issaquah area for a few hours Friday night, the possibilities for a weekend stay were wide open. Over a few nights I bid as follows:Rejected:3* Redmond-Kirkland, $43-47. Also bid 2.5* at a buck a pop with Bellevue, Pike Place, Lake Union and UW as not-quite-free rebid zones (those areas were all acceptable to me). Then attempted 3* Sea-Tac, $42-46. Weighed the possibility of getting the Doubletree and paying for both parking and internet, and abandoned that line of thinking.Next bid 3* Bellevue+Kirkland at $48, rebid in acceptable zones Lake Union, Pike Place, Redmond/Kirkland, to $51. (Note: I was pretty darn sure the Pike Place was no way going to accept my lowball bids... the parking would have been a killer). This was also rejected.Tonight I targeted Renton-Kent, using data from my rejected bids from the previous two nights, and was successful as follows:3* Renton-Kent $38+Redmond/Kirkland $40+Bellevue $42+Lake Union $44+Kirkland 46 Accepted, Courtyard Southcenter (in the Renton-Kent zone). :)Used your PRICELINE links, as usual. Happy about the bottom line of $113 all-in for two nights, near shopping and restaurants, and an easy jaunt on the light rail into downtown for a Saturday day-trip. :o
