DefconZero Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 Hey guys,So me and some friends are planning a roadtrip from Toronto to NYC and are trying to find somewhere cheap, but nice to stay. There will be 5 of us total (4 of us 20, one who is 22), and would rather not have to get 2 rooms if at all possible. We're looking to spend around 1000 for the 6 nights, working out to about 170 per night. We'd like to stay on the island if possible as to not have to bus/subway in everyday.Hoping to get a 3-4 star if possible, but we are not picky at all.Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be awesome.
thereuare Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy. As you'll actually be FIVE per room, I don't think you have any realistic options within your budget unless you're willing to take substantial risk... most 'standard' NYC hotels rooms can't accommodate 5 people, and many only accommodate double occupancy.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. DefconZero Posted May 30, 2011 Author Report Posted May 30, 2011 Alright, we don't really want to risk our chances, since we are a party of 5 and it is our first time, so will be going through Hotwire to book a quad occupancy, then just get the 5th guy in afterwards, less hassle then having to deal with double occupancy.Feel free to move this to the hotwire forum.Any suggestions on good places to stay are very welcome! Thanks.
austintx Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 I would read the Hotwire "Hotwire Star Inflation" post and be careful before accepting - http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=7959&.I was looking 2 weeks earlier which seems to be pretty in demand. I found it cheaper to go 2 rooms. Hopefully the wee you are looking won't be quite as expensive.
thereuare Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 If you search HOTWIRE for your dates and for quad occupancy... does anything appear within your desired star rating, zone(s) and budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. DefconZero Posted May 31, 2011 Author Report Posted May 31, 2011 This may be something we'll look into...A lot of the 3-4* hotels are 200+, so will continue to look, and if one drops to around 160-ish, will definitely jump on it. If not we may have to just live with staying in a 2*.
