chrisperton83 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Hi, I am planning a London trip in late October. I am thinking I'll stay 10/27-11/1 in London and would like an upscale boutique-y/younger hotel for my trip. I am open to various areas (Kensington, Chealsea, more central), but I am focusing on Soho/Mayfair for now. Hotwire is showing a 5* hotel in Soho Mayfair for $190 per night. The amenities are fitness center, restaurant, and business center. This is for two people and one room.Based on your hotel listings, I think it may be one of the "stuffier" hotels in the area. I understand that I can't look for/seek out a specific hotel via Priceline or Hotwire, but I love a deal. Thus, I am torn if I should keeping looking via this route or go the conventional route. I see that priceline has the St. James or St. Martin's lane hotel in Soho which I'd love, but again no guarantee. All this to say, what do you think the hotel currently on hotwire is? Would it likely be the Waldorf Hilton or the Sheraton Park Lane. I am less interested in those hotels as far as I can tell. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! My best guess for this one is the Sheraton Park Lane. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. StPete Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Hi chrisperton83,I am checking the same area for a stay in late July. Same amenities for 5* in Mayfair appear and tripadvisor recommendation rate of 55%. One of the shown reviews: "...This hotel was grand maybe 50 years ago but not today.".That does not really fit on the Hilton Park Lane, which is recommended by 65%. I would expect it to be the Sheraton Park Lane (rec. 50%), even when it is not listed here on the PRICELINE list for London Mayfair.Have you tried it out?To be honest, I would not book the Sheraton Park Lane after reading most of the reviews. Instead of the Sheraton I prefered a 4* hotel with high recommenation and good reviews:( Cheers,St. Pete
chrisperton83 Posted June 4, 2011 Author Report Posted June 4, 2011 I haven't tried it out, I just read the reviews as well and would not be interested in that type of hotel. Good luck!
chrisperton83 Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 I did not risk using hotwire based on the risk. I stayed at the Mandeville in Marlyebone.
