wildfire Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Hi All,I'm new to the board, but I've read quite a bit so far, and I figured out the whole re-bid strategy and think I have it down pact, but I still can't find a hotel for the dates of June 8 to June 16 in London :)We've booked the flight already but I've had no luck at all with hotels, i tried for over 4 hours last night.I've tried the following strategies:5 StarsI've rebid using the (6) free re-bid zones on Wesminister/Mayfair - Soho/Regent Park/Chelsea Knightsbridge/London Docklands all the way up to $160/night.No luck.4 StarsI've bid all the way up to $147/night for all of the following together : Chelsea Knightsbridge/Mayfair Soho/Westminister/Kensington Earls Court/London Docklands/Notting HillNo luck.Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I see other posters have gotten these types of hotels for quite a bit less here.Thank you kindly,
thereuare Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific, so you won't always be able t replicate previous bids reported to the board if rates for your particular dates are higher then usual (or more specifically, higher then when others have won for less). As well, you're seeking an eight nite stay, so a hotel will need to have loaded deeply discounted rates for the entire length of your stay... if even just one nite of your trip is unavailable, that hotel is then no longer in the running for your stay. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. wildfire Posted May 28, 2011 Author Report Posted May 28, 2011 Hi! Thanks for the reply =)Yes I was thinking that the reason was because of length of stay so I dont mind splitting my bid. For example, staying at a 4* for 4 days and another 4* in the same zone for the remaining 4 days.As for conventional bidding, HotwireWandsworth - Merton area hotel$110/night 3*, which I think is the Holiday Inn Express Battersea Wandsworth? It offers complimentary breakfast, hi speed internet access and business center.Do you think it is?As for conventional sites,TravelocityTravelocity's best deal was Express by Holiday Inn London Chingford at 3* for $137/night.LateroomsBest Western Ilford 3* for about $134/night
thereuare Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 For the conventional booking rates you quote above, are these within the PRICELINE zone's you're bidding? If not, are these other areas also acceptable? (as i think they are likely less centrally located, and therefore less expensive)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
