Bid up to $40 at 2* on both east and west zones. Closed browser then bid $32 at 1* and was given counter offer of raising bid by $15. Declined, added east zone and raised bid by $5.

Priceline wants $50.75 per night including tax through their regular site so I managed to save a whopping .89 cents!!!!

Sorry to see the savings weren' much on this win.

Big discounts in smaller markets can be tough to come by given there are fewer hotels and less competition. As well, this is exacerbated at lower rated/priced hotels since there isn't as much margin to discount, and what discount is offered by the hotel (about 20% in this instance) can be eaten up on a short stay by PRICELINE's booking fee.

Classic example of a reminder to check retail prices before you start bidding. With 20% off corporate codes easily available all over the Internet, you could have probably gotten the Travelodge for less money and it would have been refundable, to boot.
