Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Buffalo (Airport BUF) Salvatores Garden Place

I'm 90% sure I've ID'd a particular hotel in BUF. I'd like to book it, but it doesn't come up when adding 2 children to the search (w/ 2 adults). I realize that the hotel does not have to give us more than a room with a king bed -correct? I'm thinking that since it's two nights during the wk a Tuesday and Wed night (7/12 and 7/13/11) that they may overlook the booking and accommodate us with 2 doubles. I'd be OK with paying a bit more for an upgrade to 2 doubles (it's 2x's the price at the hotel's website.)

They don't need to give you a King bed... only a room which accommodates the number of guests you included on your search, which means it could be only one bed and small then then a King.

Which hotel is it that you think you'd be getting?

Right- I do realize they are only obligated to give us a bed for 2 (and meant to say one double bed). The hotel is Salvatore's Garden Place Hotel in Williamsville, NY.

It got such nice reviews at Tripadvisor. I'm wondering if I should just book it for two (at HOTWIRE - via the link here at bb of course) and then hope that that they''ll give us two beds. I may just say that the kids weren't traveling with us when the room was initially booked.

My one concern is that the lowest price room on their website is a King Suite, so that would most likely be the type of room assigned... a room with 2 doubles is $30 more (per nite). So while it all may still work out fine, in my mind this would increase the probability of some type of problem and/or an additional fee needed to change to a room with two beds. If the hotel wants to charge you an additional fee i would think that $30/nite (the price difference between the two types on their own website) is fair, but you're really subject to anything the hotel would insist upon charging.

Bottomline is that it's a calculated risk, one only you can really decide if it's worthwhile taking, but i think the info above is the biggest factor you need to consider when calculating the risk.

If you decide to book one room you could call the hotel immediately after your purchase to try to feel out the situation for a room with two beds (first just a simple request, then if you get negative feedback, try for a confirmed upgrade for an additional fee). If the fee is too much, then you can check HOTWIRE to see if it's worth seeking out a second room (assuming the listing is still available) when taking into consideration the fee the hotel want to charge.

I booked room online 1 wk ago and didn't have a chance to call the hotel until just now. It turned out they do not have a room avail w/ two beds on the 2 nights we'll be staying.

Young lady I spoke w/ said that it's fine for us to bring an air mattress for the kids, so that's what we'll do. I didn't ask about whether we'll be charged for 2more for the buffet breakfast, but if we are, that's fine. Thanks for your advice-I should have taken it and called right away, but things worked out ok anyway.
