Hi. We are taking a girls trip to NYC in September. We would prefer to stay in the CPS zone and start bidding worth a 4*. What would you suggest our opening bid be and are there free re-bid zones?

We will need two rooms for two nights. If we have to eventually add 3.5* CPS we will, but we would love to try and score a deal on 4* in CPS.

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

This is typically an expensive time in NYC, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Do you need more than double occupancy in either of the rooms? Can i ask why only CPS... is this the only area you think will work well for your plans OR are there hotels in the other zones which you're trying to avoid?

At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and try to determine them on your own and confirm with the board. If you read the previous link and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.... please click this PRICELINE link before replying.

Thanks.

Lots of people miss the "Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins" feature right in the center of this page. I hope you don't. When you go into it, you enter your first and last dates, then scroll down to New York - Priceline and click. You get a calendar showing any reports here of Priceline successes. It can give you a good idea of what might be possible. You click on the individual dates to get more details.

There won't be a lot of reports there right now, but it will fill in over time.

I have checked out the Success Page. As you said, there are not many on there as of now. I will definitely keep checking!

One of my friends really wants the CPS area. She has stayed at Parker M before and is really hoping that is what we'd win. There are four of us going so we figure we need to book 2 rooms to be on the safe side especially if we get a place with the smaller beds.

It appears these would be my re-bids?

Brooklyn

Coney Island

Long Island City

Madison Square Garden

Queensborough Bridge

Upper East Side

Anything else I should know? Reading is one thing, going ahead and biting the bullet is another thing.

Should I start the bidding at 170? Too low? Too high?
