yiminy1 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Hi, clicked through the PRICELINE link on this site and have been bidding over several days, using the free rebid zones to increase my bid amount, but continue to have no luck. Any suggestions? Does anyone know if there is something big going on in Philly the weekend of 6/25 that may be limiting the room supply? Thanks!

yiminy1 Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 Highest bid so far has been $131. Scrolling through the forum I see all these wins for $85 or so at the Westin or Loews, I'm thinking "what am I doing wrong?". I wonder if the 25th is just a bad weekend for hotel room availability in Philadelphia.
thereuare Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 There is an 18K person conference which begins 6/26, as well as a triathalon, both of which may be contributing to higher then usual demand for this particular nite. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels for this nite? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. yiminy1 Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 On PRICELINE's regular site, Loews is $329 and Westin is $459.
thereuare Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 On PRICELINE's regular site, Loews is $329 and Westin is $459.Which makes your maximum bid so far of $131 well under half of prevailing rates. While we do see discounts deeper then 50%, it's not something you can necessarily count on for any given nite. For example, taking this priceline win for a 4* hotel in Philadelphia at $81/nite, hotel direct rates are $183/nite. Indeed this slightly over half off, but it shows that hotel direct rates for your dates are higher then when this $81 win was received, and higher hotel direct rates often translate to a higher bid needed as well. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
