Jenny H Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 My husband and I are looking to find a hotel in NYC for 7/25-7/30. I accidentally got the Hudson when I tried before and found out about the double bed we would have. Thankfully they cancelled the reservation for me. I am a little worried now about trying again. I have found the Park Savoy Hotel which is a great location for $141 per night on their website. What do you all recommend? The largest desire is close to subway and then quality of hotel. I would also like to not feel like we are in an unsafe area. I would like to stay around the $150/night mark. Would you suggest I try and priceline it again? Sorry, I am a newbie at this. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)It would be greatly appreciated if you could post the Hudson win as a separate thread, as the information can help other users. My concern in this instance is that PRICELINE doesn't guarantee a particular bedding type, and in NYC, where small/very small rooms are definitely not uncommon, you definitely may end up with another double bed situation at a different property. Is a larger bed a definite must?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jenny H Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 The queen size is a desire for sure as I am going to be round and pregnant. I have found Hotel Chelsea Savoy to look good too and they have queen beds for sure. Anyone have experience with this hotel.
thereuare Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Above you mention both the Park Savoy and the Chelsea Savoy, but these are two different properties... which is the one you're considering?I would sooner try bidding on PRICELINE and sticking with the 4* level.Let us know what you decide in regards to how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jenny H Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 I mentioned both hotels because they both are below the $150 per night amount I am wanting to spend and the locations look good.
thereuare Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Neither are that high of a star rating. It's summertime in NYC which is typically a slow time period, i'd still stick with my previous asssessment:I would sooner try bidding on PRICELINE and sticking with the 4* level. If either of the above are fully cancellable you can book either as a back-up while you try PRICELINE, but i think you can do better given it's low-season.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jenny H Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 Sounds good. I did try to go up to 4* with the $150 limit but they never did accept my offer. Any recommendations as to the best few areas to search that will meet my needs?
thereuare Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Expedia is having a sale on the New Yorker for $159/nite and it appears to be refundable (check terms yourself when booking!!). Assuming that is refundable, you could book that and then continue to try PRICELINE in the weeks ahead... no guarantees, but given it's summer i suspect there is a decent chance that rates come in a little between now and then. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
