wasabi2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 :) Hi!. I've been bidding for a very long time unsuccessfully. I have a e-mail alert and I get messages that somebody else got the price I am bidding.I begun with U$D70 and went up to U$D130.I need a 4* in any location - not at the airport-.Can you make a strategy for me?I even have tried at different hours 2 AM, morning, evening...Thank you for your advice.
thereuare Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 As you've probably discovered by now, the email alert you receive is not for your specific dates, so if rates for your dates are different then when others have won, the win may not be meaningful to your own stay.I begun with U$D70 and went up to U$D130.I need a 4* in any location - not at the airport-.Please list the zones you are willing to accept, by PRICELINE name.Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (and not the links in any emails that PRICELINE sends out) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

wasabi2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 Bad news!... Message: We're sorry, but we can't accept your offer of $130 for a hotel room in the Montreal, Qc area. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##.But I have to mention that when I was bidding for U$D 115 I got a special advice that told me: "Try Again Right NowWe searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $115 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number ###-###-###-##. If you are willing to raise your price by $30 to $145 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now. Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested. "As I wanted to mantein a lower price I rejected that offer and kept bidding as you told me...What should I do next?Best regards!
thereuare Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 You've bid up to your maximum bid, so your options come down to:raise your bidlower your star ratingSPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BIDinclude other zoneswait it out and hope for lower prices in the next few days aheadYou do 'know', at least at this point in time, that you would very likely be successful somewhere between $131-$145 so keep that in mind as you decide how you'd like to proceed.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fyaman Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Check out what I had to do for my priceline bidding on "4* Montreal (Downtown-City Center) Sheraton Le Centre $94 ... 5/30/11-6/1/11" For some reason, a lot of the hotels are fully booked from June 1. I'm still working on my last day.Good luck!
