kdubbs3 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Going to Vancouver 7/17-7/21. Here are two options I've found:4* Downtown Vancouver West for $117 - amenities include fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high-speed internet, and spa; recommended by 90% of users. This is probably either the Sheraton Wall Centre or the Westin Bayshore.4* Downtown Vancouver Entertainment District for $151 - amenities include suite, fitness center, restaurant, business center, and high-speed internet; recommended by 95% of users. This could either be the Delta Suites or Westin Grand.Any thoughts on any of these hotels? Is it worth it to spend $34 to be in the entertaiment district?
thereuare Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! My best guess for the Downtown West property would be the Sheraton Wall Centre... for the Entertainment District property i agree that the Delta Suties or Westin Grand are most likely, but i'm not able to take a guess as to which may be more likely then the other.Unfortunately i'm not familiar enough with the area to advise as to which zone would be better, but somebody else may offer some suggestion(s) if you indicate the purpose of this trip and what type of things you're looking to see/do.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. kdubbs3 Posted May 23, 2011 Author Report Posted May 23, 2011 My husband and I are going on vacation. We're both in early 30s and want to be within walking distance to Stanley Park, Robson Street, and public transportation so we can get to the Capilano Suspenion Bridge. We don't mind a 20-30 minute walk though.
4streegrrl Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Having lived in Vancouver for eight years (not any more - I'm in the rural north of BC now) and I visit quite frequently, I can tell you that Vancouver West should put you a bit closer in walking distance to Stanley Park. Robson street runs east-west roughly, so either a hotel in Van West or Entertainment district will put you in close walking distance to it. Public transportation abounds - lots of buses running along Robson and out to Stanley Park. The Entertainment district is the more central area for buses and Skytrain to take you elsewhere in the city and suburbs. The SeaBus to North Van (to get to Capilano) is at Waterfront Skytrain station, so you can take the Skytrain from the enterainment district or just you can walk there in 10 minutes or so. It's a bit longer walk from the west end depending where the hotel is... maybe 30 minutes tops, but there will be buses to take you to the waterfront.People will be more than willing to help you get where you're going quickly and safely, and it is fairly easy and pleasant to walk anywhere in the west end/downtown area. Assuming it isn't raining, but the weather should be okay in July. :)
