Hi everyone.

My fiance and I are planning to elope in NYC in october. We are looking for a hotel to accomodate us + family (5 total) so we need 3 rooms. Anyone ever goten a successful bid for three rooms?

I noticed that hotel prices are pretty high during this time period, do you think there is a chance to get an 3.5* room for $150 max?

Preferred zone would be Downtown but as I understand trying to get a hotel in a particular zone lowers your chances (right?) I would add Chelsea, ESB und MSG.

Any help/bidding suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

This is an expensive time of year in NYC and at the moment i'm doubtful that $150 will be enough for a 3.5* or better hotel... it's not the number of rooms which is the issue, but more so prices for this time of year.

You certainly have plenty of time to try and/or only stick with your preferred zones at this time, but at the moment i'm guessing a 3.5* will be out of reach.

Depending upon how flexible your budget is, you could also consider Jersey City where i think you can get a 4* hotel (most likely the Westin or the Hyatt on the Hudson) for less than $150/nite and it's an easy commute into Manhattan via PATH train... but you do lose a lot of the 'feel', vibe and flexibility of staying in the city itself.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for your help.

Thought so, that it might be difficult to get a great price for a 3.5*

We actually don't want to stay in Jersey City, because for some of the family it's the first time in NYC and I want them to get the "new york vibe"

I just looked at the New York PRICELINE Hotel list again and I think the 3* hotels in Downtown, Chelsea and ESB are also quite nice.

I think I'll lower my star level to 3* and try it from there

I suspect the above will likely fall short, but i'd start here and if rejected just report back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I tried this bidding strategie but got rejected.

Then I saw there's a 4* hotel at TSQ on Hotwire for $146 dollar.

So we decided to book this hotel (although a bit further up north than we usually wanted) and got the Millennium Broadway. I'll post this seperately in the hotwire section later.

Thx again for your help!

Booked the Millenium today with the following shown:

4 Stars Times Square Theatre District Hotel

$146 per night

Amenities : Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet

Reccomended in 80% of Hotwire Customer Reviews

4 out of 5 tripadvisor rating.

Think it's a pretty good deal for our travel time.

Used the HOTWIRE link for my purchase.
