Dlmns Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Hi all,I am looking into bidding for a 4* hotel/resort in Toronto Airport East area. My travel dates are 14th June 2011 - 20th June 2011. Please advice me what my procedure should me.My maximum bid is around $60-$70. Is it too low please?Regards,Dlmns
thereuare Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I think $70 may be a little too low but you can give it a try and if rejected we can revise accordingly. At the 4* level you have TEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Toronto Airport East...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $62, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $64, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $66, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $69, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Dlmns Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 Thanks thereuare.I tried bidding according to your advice but changed the desired zone to Downtown North and South. I raised my maximum bid to $81 but with no success. So now can I go back to my original choice of 4* Toronto airport east and start including the ten rebid zones as mentioned by you please? Will that be allowed as I never included Toronto Airport East or West as rebid zones earlier? Also, if I want to down grade my star rating to 3.5* please?I went through the provided rebidding link but couldn't get the answers to the above questions. Many thanks.
thereuare Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 So now can I go back to my original choice of 4* Toronto airport east and start including the ten rebid zones as mentioned by you please?Yes... this is permissible since you never included the Airport East zone in your bidding previously. Also, if I want to down grade my star rating to 3.5* please? You'll have fewer re-bid zones so the bidding strategy will need to be amended. Were you going to bid the Aiprort East zone for a 4* first or did you no longer want to do that and want to first try for a 3.5* property? Are you only bidding the Airport East zone or is the Airport West zone acceptable as well? If lowering to the 3.5* star level did you want to re-visit the Downtown zones first? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Dlmns Posted May 21, 2011 Author Report Posted May 21, 2011 Thanks for the reply thereuare. You are probably the most helpfull moderator I have ever seen.Sorry I was bit undecided earlier regarding the zone but have now made up my mind. I'll bid for a hotel in Downtown South (1st preference) and North (2nd preference) and would like to start with 4* then come down to 3.5* and finally to 3*, if nothing works out. So let me know what should be my strategy now along with maximum acceptable bids for those zones and ratings please. I guess for 3.5* and 3* I should lower down the maximum bid as well?Regards,Dlmns
thereuare Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Thanks for the reply thereuare. You are probably the most helpfull moderator I have ever seen. :) I'll bid for a hotel in Downtown South (1st preference) and North (2nd preference) and would like to start with 4* then come down to 3.5* and finally to 3*, if nothing works out.Did you want to bid up to your limit in the Downtown South zone first before trying the Downtown North zone... or is your goal the least expensive of either of these two zones?Let us know and we'll start there with a strategy for you to follow. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases. Dlmns Posted May 21, 2011 Author Report Posted May 21, 2011 I would prefer the cheapest of either of these two zones please :). Thanks.
thereuare Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 What is your maximum bid for a 4*... based upon current rates i don't think your previous $81 bid has much of a chance for this complete stay... and may not be enough for a 3.5* property either. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Dlmns Posted May 21, 2011 Author Report Posted May 21, 2011 I think I would like to stay around that ($85 max) as my maximum bid, for now at least. I might increase it if I am not getting anything and I am running out of time.I went through the splitting bid link. It makes sense but I dont think I should go that route as I am travelling with my wife and a 1.5 years old toddler:). So it won't be ideal to shift hotels for such a short journey.
thereuare Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Using your TEN re-bid zones at the 4* level:Select 4* Downtown North and Downtown South...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $72, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $74, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $76, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $82, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $84, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85If the above is rejected, at the 3.5* level you have EIGHT re-bid zones.
