idlebrain Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 First time I used Hotwire to book a hotel at NY. We are 2 adults & 2 kids and a bit concerned about number of beds available in the room. I called the hotel directly and enquired about this, but they said its only depends at the time of checkin since its through third party. Now what to except and how to manage if its just one bed? Thanks for all responses.

sayville Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 I have a similar question -hotel is 1/2 price (at HOTWIRE) than at hotel's website. If I book room for just 2 adults and then bring find out that our 2 kids can join us (sports schedules are not concrete as yet) I know hotel doesn't have to give us a room with two beds-but I would then offer to pay a bit more $ and hope for the best. Anyone had an similar experience that worked out for them? Thanks for any advice.
thereuare Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 It's a calculated risk, but the level of risk has a lot to do with where you're staying... a BIG risk in NYC, a much smaller risk in Orlando. Less of a risk at a 4* property known for good service... more of a risk at an Extended Stay property in which a 'standard' room may only have one bed. More of a risk during a busy time in the area... less of a risk if it's a slow nite and lots of room vacancies. As you can see, many parameters involved.Once your plans firm up feel free to start a NEW TOPIC and we'll take a look based upon your specific stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Are you searching for 2adults/2children as i'm not seeing this property offered on HOTWIRE when searching for quad occupancy and your dates above.Would you kids have a problem and/or would it spoil your vacation should they need to sleep in a pullout sofabed? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. idlebrain Posted May 22, 2011 Author Report Posted May 22, 2011 Hello M,Actually I already booked the hotel on Thursday itself, but having this question with number of beds. Well it won't spoil, but I always used to book directly on hotel websites with 2 beds, First time using hotwire. My reservation doesn't say anything about beds. If I book a hotel with 4 adults, does it guarantee two beds (doesn't matter queen or double size)? I don't mind paying little more for this. thanks.
thereuare Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Why not just call the hotel and ask what type of room you've been assigned? Most PRICELINE / HOTWIRE reservations are booked 'run of house' which means that they will be assigned at check-in based upon availability. If that is what you're told, or if you're told it's a single bed with a pullout sofabed, then you can ask if you can request a room with two beds and/or if an upgrade to such a room is available (either complimentary or for a small additional fee)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future travel purchases.Thanks.
