thereuare Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 150ish? Help pls...thxWas hoping for some replies. What am doing wrong? ThxWhile i think we're very good about replying to almost all posts, it can often take more than 30 minutes :) Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? Have you done any bidding already? Based upon current prices i'm guessing your budget is going to fall short for a 4* (regardless of which zones you choose). We can suggest a strategy for you to try, but if you are rejected, would you game plan be to wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead, raise your budget, or lower your star rating? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Bdbronx23 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 Lol. Ok thx. I just figured someone would reply with all the traffic here. Yes flexible not on days....can bid into 170s or higher as needed...and 3.5 as well...in mid manhattan. Yes have been bidding over the last week...in that range. Also i would like newer larger room places...and i know nyc they can be small in older places.Any help is much appreciated. Thx
thereuare Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Which zones have you already bid at the 4* level? Have you already bid all of these zones up to $150?Did you want to next bid higher (up to $170??) for a 4* property OR are you looking to first lower your star rating to the 3.5* level in hopes of a lower price? If you're next step is to bid the 3.5* level, which zone(s) are you willing to accept? There is no way to bid on newer/more modern properties... if you're looking for something specific such as this HOTWIRE may be a better (although slightly more expensive) option since you can take an educated guess as to what the property may be before your purchase, as well as use their customer recommendation ratings to look at the 'Room Comfort' rating to gain a little insight as to the size of the room. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Bdbronx23 Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 Thx i have been bidding up to 170 and did only 4s all over manhattan but for upper west and downtown...feel like i am close...no? I may go 3.5. After failing again tomorrow. I can afford more but i like a great bargain too. What do u think it will take. Ideal would be times square....thx
thereuare Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 I'm not sure how close you are...Your dates are all mid-week which are typically more expensive then weekend dates. HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the ESB zone for $229/nite which i'm guessing is the St Giles The Court, which has never been reported to the board thru PRICELINE. I think you would need to bid close to this amount to succeed on PRICELINE, and may still be unsuccessful, which would make this HOTWIRE offer possibly the best deal.Let us know how high you decide to bid at the 4* level or if you choose to lower your star rating to 3.5*.Any questions feel free to ask or if you need help with a more detailed strategy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Thoughts?
thereuare Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Unfortunately there aren't many options other then increase your bid or wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead (unless you can change your dates to include some weekend nites)What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels at an acceptable hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Pls help....We were waiting upon your reply:What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels at an acceptable hotel? When was the last time you bid, for what star rating, and how high?HOTWIRE does now have a 3* in the Chelsea-MSG zone for $188/nite but with only a 50% recommendation by previous HOTWIRE guests i would be inclined to look elsewhere.HOTWIRE also has a 3* in the ESB zone for $175/nite which i'm guessing to be the Murray Hill East Suites... perhaps not the best choice, but might work for your needs if you don't have any other options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
