Been to Las Vegas before as a business traveler, but this time we are taking 2 families up together (4 adults/3 kids). I'm trying to stay < $100/night and will have a car (so I need parking). When I tried isolating the search on Hotwire (using your link) to north/south strip, I'm only getting 4 hotels:

5* Las Vegas Strip - North area condo $96 90% recommended (Trump?)

3* Las Vegas Strip - North area hotel $29

3* Las Vegas Strip - South area hotel $29

3.5* Las Vegas Strip - South area hotel $77 85% recommended (Bally/Flamingo/Luxor?)

So I guess what I'm wondering...

1) Looking at your hotel checker link, the Luxor seems to be a better deal even without going through Hotwire.

2) I've always stayed on the strip (MGM & Mirage), are there any other good places east/west of the strip that are within walking distance?

3) Are there some great deals off the strip that are nice & cheap that would justify having to drive to the strip?

4) Las Vegas experts: any general hotel/vacation suggestions?

5) Those two places in the middle scare me... should they?

This research is driving me crazy and Las Vegas has too many hotels/locations to choose from I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

When searching the Luxor are you including quad occupancy? In Vegas each additional person over double occupancy can often add $15-$30 per person per nite to the rate.

You didn't include the amenities for the 3* properties but given the price and star rating i'm going guess one might be Hooters and the other the Stratosphere... neither would be near the top of my list for Vegas but given you have a car, Stratosphere might be fun for the kids (although the surrounding neighborhood is not that great) and i'd only suggest this if on a very tight budget.

If you'd like help with the 5* and 3.5* properties please include the amenities HOTWIRE associates with each. Also, how old are the kids that are traveling? (as it might effect the suggestions if they are 4 years old vs. 16 years old)
