Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Kansas City (Overland Park) Marriott Overland Park

I'm doing a few days of research around Eastern Kansas (Lawrence and Emporia), and I had been looking at staying in Lawrence. I spotted the Holiday Inn in Lawrence for $69 on Hotwire, but I was a bit put off by the relatively high price + the fact that there were so many glowing reviews about the water slide (what is this, Disneyland?).

I bid up to $50 + $5 PL cash for a 3* in Lawrence and got nothing. Then I tried Hotwire for Kansas City and identified the Sheraton Overland Park for $79/night. I checked the PL list and saw that PL counts the Sheraton, the Marriott, and the Hyatt Place as 3.5*, so I figured I'd better not bid too close to the Hotwire price expecting to get the Sheraton.

I bid $58 + $5 PL cash for a 3.5* in Overland Park and got the Marriott right away.

I hope I made the right choice! Generally, I like to stay at better-name hotels (Sheraton, Marriott, etc...) and I didn't think the Holiday Inn in Lawrence was offering a compelling rate ($69 on Hotwire is practically rack rate). So I figured it was better to stay in a nicer place and drive a little than to stay in a lower-quality place and not drive.

Anyone know how the weekday traffic is between KC and Lawrence/Emporia?

Congrats on your success. :)

I think this is a very good deal for this Marriott property. Hopefully those familiar with the area can provide details on the traffic.
