patela Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I've been trying to bid on 3.5 and 4 star rooms in DC in the Downtown/Capitol Hill and Dupont areas, and have had no luck at $175 for 3.5* and $210 for 4*.This morning, I got an alert from priceline saying that someone just got a 3.5* hotel in Dupont/Woodley for $95. When I search the individual hotel sites for the three 3.5* hotels listed for this area, 2 have no availability, and one lists a rate of $400. Is the issue that the $95 dollar bid was probably for different dates? Should I try again? Any tips?(I finally bit the bullet and just made a regular reservation through priceline so I have something, but I can cancel anytime before tomorrow without penalty). Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The email is very likely for other dates. What would be your desired budget per night/what is the deal for the back-up reservation?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
patela Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 Deal on backup reservation is $220/night at Hotel Madera (3.5*, Downtown). I'd be much happier to be under 200, and ideally closer to 160As I've drilled down a bit more, it seems like the issue is the night of 5/23. If I limit searches on Priceline, Hotwire or others to 5/21 -5/23 (instead of 5/24), the availability is much better. It seems like things are booked on the 23rd for some reason. I think someone noted that as well on another post. Thanks!
