jamison86 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Serious newb here, lol.Would like to spend one Saturday night in NYC, either 6/4 or 6/11.My goal is to stay in a 2.5*-3.5* for under $200 including taxes. Would be great if it could be done for closer to $150.I am fine with any of the zones.Wondering where I should begin...
thereuare Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages.I am fine with any of the zones. You shouldn't be :) Do you really want to potentially stay all the north in the 90's or 100's of UES and/or UWS? What is the purpose of your trip?My goal is to stay in a 2.5*-3.5* for under $200 including taxes. Would be great if it could be done for closer to $150.There is usually a HUGE gap between 2.5* and 3.5* properties in NYC, what is it that you're looking for from this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jamison86 Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 Oops, that was a typo! That should've been 3* to 3.5*.I actually live on the UWS normally and am very familiar with all of the neighborhoods. At the moment, I'm visiting family elsewhere, but need to get up to the city just for a weekend and would love to stay in a hotel instead of crashing at a friend's place :-) For me, a nicer hotel is more desirable than a conveniently located one. With that said, staying out near either of the airports probably wouldn't be my first choice :-)
thereuare Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Are you willing to pay more for a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Since you mention a 'nicer hotel' is something like the notoriously small rooms of the Hudson Hotel acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jamison86 Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 thereuare, you always know exactly which questions to ask! My goal for this stay is definitely 'the least expensive 3* or better.' The shoebox-sized rooms at the Hudson Hotel are definitely not desirable to me :-)

jamison86 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 I tried all of the above with no luck, and eventually decided that I will stay on Sunday, 6/5 instead, as the rates are significantly better and my trip is very flexible.I ended up getting Cassa Hotel in midtown central for $130 through HOTWIRE. I chose this over The W Downtown and The Benjamin, which were both being offered for similar rates.
AaronJB Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this NYC property! Can you confirm the amenity icons that were showing with this listing?Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
