Priceline Hotel: 4* first time poster Manhattan 12/2-12/4

I would like a 4* around Central Park. I don't care about the amenities. I just want clean and a private bathroom. My problem is that it is my husband, our son and I so we would like a suite. Is that impossible with priceline? I cannot figure out what kind of rooms they give you. Also, we've never been to NYC and we want to go for my birthday in December. Priceline is saying the average room price is over $400. What is a realistic bid?

There is no way to select a particular amenity or room style via PRICELINE. With HOTWIRE, you can look for a listing with a "S" Suite icon.

Additionally, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed - and this is especially true in NYC, where using PRICELINE is a definite risk if you need two beds. HOTWIRE is a better option for a party of four, as you can indicate the amount of people in the group, which at least ensures bedding (2 beds or 1 + sofabed, etc) for the party. PRICELINE and HOTWIRE discount reservations ensure a regular/non-upgraded room. Additionally, unfortunately, this is a prime period in NYC for holiday shopping and, as a result, hotel prices can be quite high.

What would be your desired budget per night, and which PRICELINE zones are acceptable?
