Priceline Hotel: NYC JUNE 19th-26th.. first time poster - budget

Hi,

First time posting. Great idea for a site. Trying to find out how to best bid for the week of June 19th-26th. My girlfriend and I are theatre artists heading down for vacation. As we're theatre artists we don't have a ton of money. I've seen some hotels on tripadvisor, namely hotel 31 and hotel 17 that are 122 plus tax and pretty centrally located. They have shared bathroom which is my prime reservation. I've budget travelled around the world so I'm not looking for anything amazing, just not appalling. Certainly want to remain under 150 and would love to be closer to 100. If we can't find something cheapish we'll have to bump our trip down from 7 days to maybe 4 or 5. We are good to walk or get around and are cool with anywhere on Manhattan really, I'd prefer not to be to much further than that though.

What do you think guys? Am I better just buying that hotel straight up off tripadvisor or is there a win to be had with priceline?

I don't think $100 has much of a chance, but if you're willing to bid up to $150 (before taxes and fees) i think you have a shot at a 3* or better property. Assuming all of the following zones are acceptable:

As I go through rebidding am I able to shorten my term or does that have to remain the same?

Do you mean change your check-in or check-out dates?

If so, you can change either, but if you do, it might be advisable to start from the beginning bids once again. If you drop some dates which were higher in price, it's possible that a bid which you previous made might be accepted for the shortened date range.

Hello again. I ended up finding a friend who is able to let my girlfriend and I stay at their place while we're in NYC so I won't be doing priceline in the end. Thanks so much for your thorough help.
