Guhikl Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Hi Guys,First I want to thank you for this great forum.I'm a newbie for priceline and have some small questions and would be happy for some advices.I would like to stay 20 nights in a 3,5 or 4 star hotel in Toronto Downtown. What do you think is a realistic price for 4 star, 3,5 and 3 star hotels? Is it better to search for the whole stay or should I split it into smaler stays due to price changes or something like that?Thank you very much for your help.

Guhikl Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks for this information.Yes please give me some good advises for 21 days. Thanks alot.
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 What would be your desired max budget per night, and which PRICELINE zones would be acceptable? With 21 days, splitting at at least once (and quite possibly 2-3 times) may be best.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 If you just enter "toronto" in the Quick Search box up at the top of this page, you will see what other bidders have reported for that city. And then if you use the Calendar of Wins - center of this page - selecting Canada-Priceline and entering your dates - you will see results for your specific dates. You will have to split the dates up here, as it will only show 14 days at a time.Romelle
Guhikl Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks for this informations. For me it is more important to be in the right area than the hotel categorie. It should be Downtown (one of the two available areas).Ok I will take a look on the quick search.Thank You.

Guhikl Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 The price should be below 90 USD (or CAD).I calculated with 70 to 80 USD but I have noticed that this is not realistic, isn't it?Thanks
thereuare Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 $90 may be enough for this stay, but if not, you should at least be able to get some of the dates at around this price point. To begin, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Did you want to try for the full stay at once or do you want to begin with just a sub-set of these dates? Are you willing to bid up to $90/nite at this time? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Guhikl Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 For me it is more important to save money than having a 4 star hotel. If it would be easier to get a good rate I will split my stay. Are there some other advices for me?Thanks
Romelle Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 I looked up rates by day on Priceline retail. They are almost always flat across the whole time span. So a logical split might just be week by week, breaking on the day that would be most convenient to move. First bidding the full span just in case there was something available that long, and then each week block. Romelle
thereuare Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 So do you want to begin by trying for the least expensive 3.5* or better for the complete stay, trying both Downtown North and Downtown South, with a $90 maximum bid? Is this correct? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Congratulations on your success(es)! In keeping with the board format of only one win per thread (this allows each to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and also allows others to find your wins when searching the topic titles on the board), can you please post each of your wins to the board as a NEW TOPIC and indicate the bid price (before taxes and fees) of each win. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.PS- please indicate the zones as well... there may very well be more than one "Courtyard by Marriott" in all of Toronto. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
