Priceline Hotel: 3* San Juan Radisson San Juan

I've always had good luck with priceline in the past, thanks to the strategy tips from this BB.

But this time, I'm hitting a brick wall. I had read with hope the posts of people getting a resort (Westin or Wyndham) in Humacao for $79 or $90 respectively.

I went up to $109, and got NOTHING!

After a dreadful experience staying in SJU itself last time we were there, we're keen to avoid other 'generic' 3 star properties in town that look tired, have poor cleanliness, and shoddy service.

Anyone have any ideas where I go from here now?

Cheers!

If you've used this site for help in the past you should be supporting it with your purchases and by reporting your wins to the board.... this shouldn't be your first post. :)

Rather than focus on what others have received on dates other than your own, you should focus on your next best option. Do you have a back-up reservation, if so where and how much?

Don't worry, it's my first post, but my partner also posts, and we did detail our rate acheived for our last stay in MIA :)

Back-up plan? I'm not sure... I've stayed (full rate) at a couple of different 3* hotels in San Juan and have found the service lacking to say the least...

So I guess that was why we were really looking for a 4 Star or a resort... maybe I will try back again in a week or two.

Sorry it took so long, but just back from my trip...

I tried everything, but the best price I could get was US130 plus fees and taxes per night for a room at the Radisson in San Juan for end of April.

Prices in SJU seem to be able to hold their ground more so than most cities. Also, I'd give a word of caution about star ratings in Puerto Rico. Most 4* properties are more like a typical 3* property, and PL does group a lot of the 4* officially rated properties (Radisson was one of them) as a 3* on it's site... and whilst there was nothing 'wrong' with the Radisson, it was a definite 3* and not a 4* imho.

So perhaps be wary if booking budget accommodation as to the standards you might recieve...

You can search for my comments elsewhere on the board re: San Juan, in sum it's an expensive hotel market where, do to the higher prices invovled guests expect a bit 'more', but seldom get it.

So this is a 3* as per Priceline, correct? Can you also please include the dates of your stay.

Thanks.

The Radisson Embacadero was rated by Priceline as a 3 star. A stay on April 21st for one night was $130 plus fees plus taxes.

The Radisson Embacadero charges a 'resort' fee locally on top of the price you are billed by PL because it has a Casino in the hotel. Unfortunately, I don't know how much it is as in the end they didn't bill it to us as a 'gesture of goodwill' following a service issue at the hotel.
