Couponmama Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Bidding on Vegas is new to me. So looking for advice. I have bidding the Phoenix, Az area figured out so I know how priceline works, I use it a LOT. But wondering how I should approach bidding for Vegas. Is it better to bid far out from travel date or last minute??
thereuare Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! As far as 'when to bid' see the related link on our PRICELINE FAQ.From your topic title, are you only interested in the Strip South zone (and not the Strip North too?) What is your expected budget? As your stay spans over both midweek and weekend dates, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? As you mention you're a frequent user of PRICELINE, we hope you begin to share your wins with the board so that others can benefit from the info, and please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future travel purchases.Thanks. Couponmama Posted May 14, 2011 Author Report Posted May 14, 2011 I would like to stay at around $90/night before fees/taxes.
will34 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 It seems that people have gotten some really good deals bidding early (~$90 for the Wynn, ~$110 for the Venetian) bidding as far out as August, so I think you are free to bid now. I'm not sure $90 is going to get a 5* especially since your stay includes weekend days. The highest likelihood 5* will be Vdara (no casino) but I still think it will be in the $100+ range. As for 4*, much better shot, but make sure you will be happy with any of the 4* on the south strip. Some people prefer to bid 4* north strip because it is usually TI (maybe Mirage), where as south strip can be hit or miss. I bid 4* south strip and won Monte Carlo for August (Thurs, Fri, Sat) for $77/night, so that might be more in the price range you are looking at. You are also looking for a holiday weekend which I'm guessing will raise the price.
Couponmama Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the help I was wondering about doing 4 * north strip. I can't bid till after 5/27, gotta wait for the cc to close.
