Priceline Hotel: Max. Room occupancy question

Hi,

I am interested in going to NYC in September. There will be five of us including my wife and children ages 8, 6, and 1. Are there going to be any problems with hotels saying we can't put five in the room if it is a one-year old? And if it is ok, do hotels provide a crib? We are looking at taking a bus to NYC, so we wouldn't have a pac-n-play for the little one.

Thanks!

Five in a room in NYC is definitely difficult, with rooms even at upscale properties in many cases being small or very small (150-175 sq ft is not unusual - rooms very well may not be big enough for a rollaway) and rooms with two beds are not in great supply (leading them to often go for a premium.) PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed; HOTWIRE is a little better in this regard, as you can search for/indicate 2 adults/2 children, and children are defined on the front page as 2-17 yrs. The only issue is that, given the general size of NYC hotel rooms, when searching for 2/2 on HOTWIRE, options are more limited and usually more expensive.

What are your date/s of travel and desired budget per night?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I am planning to be in NY somewhere between Sept. 12 and Sept. 24. I have Statue of Liberty tickets with Crown access scheduled for Sept. 21 so I need to be there then, but whether we go for a week or 12 nights isn't set yet. As far as price, I was hoping to keep it in the $150 range (hopefully including taxes and Priceline fees) although I don't need a 4-star.

Thanks!

You can start by searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children for different date combinations within this range, but i think you're going to find pricing beyond your expected budget.

You may want to consider Hoboken-Jersey City for your stay as all the 'known' 4* hotels in this area have good access to NYC via the PATH train, are all generally fairly new, get very good reviews, and can be an inexpensive alternative to the Manhattan. For example, searching 9/16-9/24 for 2adults/2children shows a 4* hotel (i'm guessing the Westin or Hyatt on the Hudson) for $98/nite.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Once your plans firm up let us know your thougths/options and we'll take it from there.
