propr'one Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 I want to stay at the Westin on august 30th (Woo, santana!!)anyway, i've bid up to 86$, no go. Should i wait till closer to the date? Am i realistic with my bid? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. With hotel direct rates currently $200+ your bids is still less than half of prevailing rates, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. propr'one Posted May 15, 2011 Author Report Posted May 15, 2011 The westin is the only 4 star hotel in this part of edmonton. What would be a realistic bid for this stay?Edit: Bid up to 111$ today, still not accepted.
thereuare Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Given you have it's 3+ months before your stay, how much of a discount to conventional rates do you need to make locking in a non-refundable purchase worthwhile? It's possible that the hotel has not given any deeply discounted to the opaque suppliers yet. Do you know of any event happening during these dates which would drive up prices or make it difficult to get a room in the weeks ahead? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
