dmsingh Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Hi, first time user here!I'm trying to bid on a 4* las vegas hotel in north strip for 6/24-6/26. I noticed someone else got TI for $90 and I'd like to get the same deal. I started with North strip 4* and bid $75, and it got rejected. I can't seem to figure out how to find the zones with no 4* or 5* hotels so i can safely add zones in. Anyone able to help me?Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Start with the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter Las Vegas and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.See if you can determine your FOUR re-bid zones and we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT a re-bid zone)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dmsingh Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 Thanks! I figured it out. I was just looking for how to figure out which zones were under 4 stars and that first page is the one! After finding my 4 re-bid zones i tried a strategy for my 95$ budget$70 4 stars - north strip - rejected$75 4 stars - north strip + one re-zone - rejected$80 4 stars - north strip + 2 rezones - rejected$85 4 stars - north strip + 3 rezones - rejected$90 4 stars - north strip + 4 rezones - rejectedI tried this immediately after getting an alert that someone had just won a $75 bid for north strip 4 stars! Should i try again tomorrow? Do you have any suggestions?
thereuare Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Rates are date specific, and unfortunately the PRICELINE alert has nothing to do with rates for your particular date(s) and therefore is not very meaningful to your bidding. That win was probably for midweek dates whereas your stay is for weekend nites (when rates are considerably higher)Based upon rates at the moment i don't think you're too close... you're probably currently more likely looking at $135-$165 to be successful more so then the $90-area... what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dmsingh Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 i actually based my budget off of someone else on this form who won at $90 and got 5 rooms at TI. I'm looking for two. His bids were in March though, so maybe that was a bigger factor than i thought.I think we'll just go for an online deal we found for the platinum then. unless you (or anyone) know of hotwire or priceline ever using the platinum?Either way, thank you so much for your help!
thereuare Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 I don't believe the Platinum has ever been reported to the board thru PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, but keep in mind that this property is located off-strip, and depending upon your needs, location can be a big factor in Vegas.
