Newbie here, Is august considered an off peak for Vegas? Has anyone did any good placing bids on a 5* for august? Was thinking about bidding on a 5* August 4-9 (thurs-tues) any recommendations?

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Prices appear reasonable for these late Summer dates, with HOTWIRE showing a 5* in Strip North for $125 and one in Strip South for $100. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay, and which PRICELINE zones would be acceptable?

Thanks,

I am not really familar with HOTWIRE and their setup. Was looking around PRICELINE today for a 5 star, Strip North. I found a link earlier that ranked and listed hotels by zone, however, I am unable to find that page again. According to the site PRICELINE had three 5* in that zone (wynn, palazzo, and venetian)? Was looking to start bidding at around 95-100 per night under the assumption it was one of those 3 hotels. Really want to stay at the venetian or palazzo.

You can find a list of the Nevada PRICELINE hotels that have been reported to the board at this link: Priceline Hotel List. Those are the hotels that have been reported to the board - new hotels can be reported at any time. When bidding, you have to be willing to accept any hotel at the particular star rating in that zone. Are you only looking for the Venetian or Palazzo, or would you be willing to possibly accept a different 5* in the zone?

Thanks for showing me the link again. We are really trying to stay in the strip North Zone. We won't have a car out during the trip, so staying on the strip would be ideal. I am a total rewards member with harrahs, and stayed at the rio and harrahs before. Was looking to stay somewhere different, caesars prices were out of our budget and want to stay away from the other harrahs properties. I may just try and start the bidding around the 95-100 per night and see what happens.

BTW this site awesome and very helpful. Thanks for providing answers to my questions.

I won a priceline bid at the Wynn for $92 starting on 8/7. The issue will be that I'm sure it's more expensive on the weekend so I'm not sure what you might have to bid in order to win from Thurs - Tues. For instance, say if the minimum prices the Wynn has in priceline are $90 for Thurs, Sun, Mon but $120 for Fri and Sat, I'm not sure if they average the prices and that is the minimum bid to win the stay (~$105) or if they make you bid high enough to win the weekend ($120) and overpay for the weekdays. Anyone have an idea how this works?

Summer is slow season in Vegas (it's hot) and rates are not too bad for this weekend included dates... $100 might be enough, but if not, i think $105-$120 would increase your chances for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone.

If you'd like help with a detailed bidding strategy let us know maximum bid ($100 or if you can bump it up a little) and we'll advise accordingly.
