irishwill Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Hi All,I am planning visiting NYC from the 3rd of Oct to 7th, have looked at some hotels and the Crowne Plaza Time Sq and the Byrant Park Hotel seem really nice place but check priceline and the prices seem maybe outside our budget. Was thinking of a budget of a max 320 a night. Has anyone got advise on how to bid for a hotel in and around the area's of the above hotels. All help is greatly appreciated.

irishwill Posted May 11, 2011 Author Report Posted May 11, 2011 Hey,I have searched through priceline and found the Byrant Park Hotel with a Deluxe room at 440 a night with fees all in is just over 2000usd. This is about 700usd above our budget. Could you please provide some advise on how should i start to bid for this hotel. Thanks
thereuare Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. irishwill Posted May 11, 2011 Author Report Posted May 11, 2011 I accept that i can not bid for a single hotel, I named the hotels for example of what I had been looking at and the kind of money i was willing to spend. Could you please advise of a strategy to bid for a 4star or above for the dates mentioned, the areas I am thinking of is Time Square or Empire State.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I'm guessing your budget to be ~$275/nite bid price. With rates so high, is TS and ESB the only two zones which would work for your needs? At the 4* level, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB are all typical centrally located and work well for the average user, and including the most zones which are acceptable gives more hotels a chance to accept your bid, which translates to the lowest possible price. We can suggest a strategy for just TS and ESB if that's all you really want, but i wouldn't want to see you pay too much if the other zone(s) are acceptable as well.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. irishwill Posted May 12, 2011 Author Report Posted May 12, 2011 Yes as alreay stated 275-300 is our budget and in the 2 areas mentioned, but will add CPS if it helps you.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 ...but will add CPS if it helps you.Doesn't help me at all as it's not my money nor my trip... i was only making a suggestion based upon my knowledge of the area (but not knowing your plans) in order to try to save you a few extra dollars if possible. We'll stick with your original two zones...At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* ESB...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and ESB...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and ESB and re-bid zone5...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $225, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and ESB and re-bid zone6...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $250, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS and ESB and re-bid zone5 and re-bid zone6...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $260, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $270, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $275Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
