gingernova Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Hi! I need to book 2 rooms in New York City from May 14 to May 20. Preferably, I would like to stay in a central location. I can pay up to $260 excluding tax for a 4*. I tried priceline about an hour ago and went up to $250 using every area and got nothing. What strategy do you suggest I follow? I'll have to wait 24 hours to give it another shot right? Thanks so much!!!
AaronJB Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Please provide a follow-up for your prior London Priceline thread (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
gingernova Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 I just posted a follow up for the London thread. Sorry about the delay!
thereuare Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I would like to stay in a central location.... I tried priceline about an hour ago and went up to $250 using every area and got nothing.Exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, did you include in your bidding?I'll have to wait 24 hours to give it another shot right? At the 4* level in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones... did you use all six? gingernova Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 Hi, thanks for your help - I started with MTW and kept adding zones until I used all of them, including the six rebid zones.

gingernova Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 I used all of the following:Brooklyn, Central Park South, Chelsea Area, Coney Island, Downtown-Soho-Financial District, Empire State Building Area, Hell's Kitchen, Long Island City, Madison Square Garden - Convention-Area, Midtown East, Midtown West, Queensborough Bridge, Times Square - Theatre District, Upper East Side, Upper West Side.
thereuare Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? You could likely get the weekends dates for this trip for well under amounts you have already bid, but the mid-week dates are still going to be VERY expensive (and difficult)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gingernova Posted June 1, 2011 Author Report Posted June 1, 2011 Hi there, I just wanted to post an update to this thread: in the end someone else in my party ended up booking the Sheraton Brooklyn directly with the hotel. It obviously came out very expensive. I hope next time I will have enough time to discuss a Priceline strategy with you guys. Thank you.
