MJRBIM
(Two -Nights)Looks like PL rates are rising in Ottawa as we hit the summer months...hopefully, if there's a snap election in the next week or so the hotel occupancy numbers will drop as everyone goes out to campaign trail - and we can get some better PL rates.1st Bid - 2.5* Ottawa DT @ $42 = Declined2nd Bid - 2.5* added Hull @ $45 = Declined-waited 72 hours-3rd Bid - 2.5* Ottawa DT @ $48 = Declined4th Bid - 2.5* added Hull @ $50 = Declined-waited 72 hours-5th Bid - 4* Ottawa DT @ $60 = Declined6th Bid - 3* Ottawa DT @ $55 = Declined7th Bid - 2.5* Ottawa DT @ $55 = Declined8th Bid - 2.5* added Hull @ $60 = Accepted at 2.5* Courtyard Marriott===========Check-In Date: Sunday, May 15, 2005Check-Out Date: Tuesday, May 17, 2005Hotel Name:Courtyard By Marriott Ottawa350 Dalhousie StreetOttawa, Ontario K1N 7E9613-241-1000Your Offer Price: $60.00 (US dollars)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 2Subtotal: $120.00 (US dollars)Taxes and Service Fees: $19.27 (US dollars)Total Charges: $139.27 (US dollars)===============It took almost a week to snag this booking - but it's still a good deal since the best rate on the Marriott site is $169.00 (CDN)/$134.98 (US) per night plus tax...so I'm still saving around 50% on this booking vs. the hotel site.I have stayed at this hotel before, and it's a decent 2.5* that is close to everything. I'd still rather be paying the $38 per night I bid for it in January, but at 50% of the Hotel's posted rate - I won't complain. Link to comment
thereuare
You've certainly got the right attitude... can't be expecting yesterday's prices when demand and prices are up (for whatever reason). Half off is still a great deal.As always, thank you for your detailed postings.Enjoy your stay. mlgood
I always follow your Ottawa posts MJRBIM and suddenly felt inspired to tell you what a great asset you are to this section of the board. Your posts were a big help when we were planning our family's trip to Ottawa last summer, so thanks. I can't help wondering whenever I read your posts, what it is that takes you there so often. (Just curious - no pressure to answer. ) Is it business or do you just love Ottawa? Or, are you one of those crazy feds stirring up that whole political melodrama taking place there right now? :) If so, stop it, I'm sick of elections. :) Link to comment
MJRBIM
It's for business, I'm a consultant and I spend 2 or 3 days per week on the road - usually in Ottawa. Link to comment
