Romelle Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I'm working on bidding a trip through NM. Thought I'd post my failed bidding just in case somebody else is also working on it.When bidding $38, I got a counter-offer of +$15 ($53). I've been gradually working my way though the range. Last night I bid $49 and that still didn't work. 2* is the highest PL has to bid in Socorro, and it is a one-zone town so no free rebids. I'm also working on 6/3/11 with very similar results. If and when I am successful with that one I'll make a separate posting for it. I'll also close this one even if I end up having to book conventionally.Any chance there are any lurkers out there who might share results with me? Sort of lonely for this bidding area. No posted history. Romelle
thereuare Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Sorry can't help too much on this one, but from 'retail' it appears that the Best Western, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Howard Johnson are among the possibilities (although since each uses their own database of hotels there could be others as well OR these hotels may not participate in the 'bidding' side of their service)Good luck with the next few bumps. Romelle Posted May 19, 2011 Author Report Posted May 19, 2011 I got up to $64 with my 2* bidding, with no success. The hotels potentially available are good national brands, but have very mixed reviews for the local units. With fees and taxes that $64 bid was about $80. On PRICELINE's retail side:HoJo $66Best Western $83Comfort Inn $99Holiday Inn $124I might have been safe from the HoJo, as their web site showed no availability for my dates, but the BW would have really limited savings if I got my bid with the PL fee included. Plus no bed choice and no guarantee of non-smoking.I found the AARP rate for the Comfort Inn was $90, so I booked it directly. The earlier counter offer I got might have been for the HoJo, but by the time I inched up in my bidding it was gone.In chasing down the AARP discount, and checking some coupons, I forgot to go through the Comfort Inn link under the support page tab. Sorry. I did do my airline tickets through your Delta link though.Romelle
