smc Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 I wonder if anyone has a recommendation on where to park to avoid the $40/day from the hotel?

Libal Family Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Parking is always hard in Seattle. I have generally figured with as much money as we're saving using this site in conjunction with Priceline, it's easy enough to just pay the parking fee, but once I did juggle around parking the car on the street. It can be done, but it's a hassle.
thereuare Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 There is a parking garage on Alaskan Way behind Pike Place Market that had reasonable hourly rates, i don't know about their overnite rates. Also not that convenient, but you can check any of the surrounding Park N Rides to leave your car (confirm that overnite parking is allowed and also maximum length of time) and then take the bus into the city for your stay. smc Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 The parking situation downtown Seattle was quite manageable and in-expensive during the weekend. Overnight street parking downtown is free from 8pm-8am, as is all day Sunday. Nearby parking garages charged only $8 dollars for all-day Saturday. So instead of $41/day + tips for the Sheraton valet parking, I spent a total of $13. ($5 for an hour of street parking and $8 during the day on Saturday). Cheap and easy!We were also very happy with the hotel. It lived up to the 4* rating much better than other priceline hotels. There was no "Priceline Stigma" and we were upgraded at check-in (no charge) to a slightly larger corner room (King Deluxe?). The room was relatively spacious and it was nice to have some extra space for my 2-year to play. With the corner room, natural lighting during the day was excellent. Views from the 18th floor were not spectacular, but my son still appreciated looking down at the traffic. The hotel location was excellent. There was lots of action nearby, and the nearby Pike Place market was a highlight.
