I saw there was a post mentioning a hotel with the same star and the same zone here: Hotwire Long Island City

My date is 05/17-05/22, 5 nights, $62 per night.

Amenities: Only complimentary breakfast.

Recommended in 90% of customer reviews.

Tripadvisor view: 3.5 out of 5.0

Previously I thought it might be Pan American Hotel. Then I figure out that Pan is a 2.5*. Could anyone help identify it?

Yes, I use this as a Manhattan substitute. I want to avoid paying 5 nights in Manhattan, which will be at least one thousand. But, do you recommend that I stick to higher star hotels in order to guarantee a better quality?

Thank you for your attention.

A 2* property with just a Complimentary Breakfast icon has not yet been reported to the board, and with just this solo icon, it could be just about anything which offers breakfast. The Howard Johnson has been seen with just a Breakfast icon but at the 2.5* level, it's possible that it has been downgraded since then.

I'm not such a fan of this area, and you're not necessarily assured of being near a subway in this zone, especially at the lower star levels such as this one. However, to get something 'better', you'll most certainly need to pay more than $62/nite, what is your maximum budget for this trip?

Hi thereuare, thanks for you reply.

Yeah, I know the long island city zone is not recommended by the forum. I take that advice and now try to bid for other zones:)

My budget is 160 per night, including the tax. I have been bidding for over one week. I tried the Manhattan area (2.5* and up), the jersey city (4*), and the flushing queens (3*). No luck. NYC is so busy and hot at my time, but we just want to have a room for sleep. We can accept a 2* hotel that is the city or close to the subway station if outside.

Hi thereuare, thank you very much for your recommendation. After doing some search, I decide not to choose this offer since we would like some nicer areas. I will try to find luck in jersey city, or I will increase my budget to 180 (tax included) to bid some hotels in the city. How do you think this way?

To stay consistent with the board format, going forward please post your maximum room rate before fees and taxes.

I think your budget will still be a bit tough for NYC... you can try for a 4* in Jersey City, but i'm uncertain if it will be enough there or not.

Let us know what you'd like your next move to be and we'll take it from there.

I finally got a hotel in Flushing, Queens (bid in PRICELINE, not HOTWIRE).

Lexington Marco Laguardia Hotel (3*). Accepted at $110 per night, five nights, total 683 USD.

I read the review (#1 recommended in TripAdvisor of all the Flushing hotels) and it was pretty good. Only walk-way distance to the 7 subway station. A lot of ethnic restaurants. A huge Chinatown. A lot of authentic chinese food to appreciate. Plus, we are arriving at and leaving from LGA. Considering all those factors, we are satisfied with this hotel.

Always use the PRICELINE link in the forum to bid. Enjoy bidding, everybody :) Thank you!
