christine052 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. From the browsing I've done it looks like there's quite a collection of useful bidding tips on here! Anyways, I'm planning an overnight trip to Niagara Falls and I'd like some tips! I've never used Priceline before but from reading posts I think I understand the bidding and rebidding process. Anyways, I'm looking at a 4* hotel for April 16th-17th. My dates are a bit flexible so April 15th-16th would also be acceptable, though I prefer the former set of dates. I looked on Hotwire and saw 4*s for $85/night, so I'd ideally like to pay less than that, otherwise I may as well just book through Hotwire. I'm wondering how low I should start with the bidding. And if I simply wait 24 hours before bidding again, I can place the same bid without doing the rebidding process described in this forum, right? (Not that I will wait that long, I think I will try the rebidding strategy, but I'm just curious). Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
thereuare Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding! The dates you've posted have already past... did you mean May?If your bid is rejected, after 24 hours you get a completely 'clean slate' and you can bid whatever you'd like... the same amount, less, more, etc... that bid essentially is erased from your history in the sense that it has no effect or barring on any future bidding. Please confirm your dates and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. christine052 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Oops, good catch - I did mean May. I guess I'm still on April time! :) Anyways, I'm looking at either May 15th-16th or May 16th-17th.
thereuare Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Niagara Falls...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85You can try the above for your preferred dates, then if rejected re-try for your alternate dates.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. christine052 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 I wanted to give you an update on my reservation! I changed my mind and decided May 15th-16th worked better for me, so I started with those dates. (FYI I used the PRICELINE link from the forum!)I chose 4* Niagara falls and bid $65, and was rejected. Then I added Niagara North as a rebid zone and bid $70, was rejected. Then I removed Niagara North and added St. Catharines and bid $75, and that bid was accepted by Sheraton on the Falls! Thanks for the advice and assistance! I'm excited for my trip! :)
