Kaneohe0850 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I need some help with a last minute bidding strategy for London. This trip has been on/off/on due to complications at work, etc and now need to scramble for finding a 4 star in London that won't break the bank. Here are my details:Dates: May 9-23, can be split into two stays though prefer one continuos stayOne person travelingWilling to go up to $135-140 per night for a 4 star hotel--is this reasonable??Preferred location (listed by preference): Mayfair-Soho, Westminster, Notting Hill - Bayswater, Kensington-Earls Court-Knightsbriidge, Bloomsbury-Marble ArchWill consider a 3 star if absolutely cannot land a 4 star.Thank you!
thereuare Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Preferred location (listed by preference): Mayfair-Soho, Westminster, Notting Hill - Bayswater, Kensington-Earls Court-Knightsbriidge, Bloomsbury-Marble ArchI'm assuming that price is the primary objective and you'd prefer the least expensive 4* in the zones above rather than paying more to be in Mayfair-Soho vs. Westminster vs. Notthing Hill, etc, etc? (if not post back and we'll revise the strategy below accordingly)If so, at the 4* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Mayfair, Westminter, Notting Hill...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Kensington, Bloomsbury...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Kensington, Westminter, Notting Hill...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Mayfair, Bloomsbury...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Bloomsbury, Westminter, Notting Hill...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Kensington, Mayfair...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Mayfair, Westminter, Notting Hill, Kensington, Bloomsbury...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140Any questions feel free to ask.PLEASE use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Kaneohe0850 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 Success! I had to work all the way through the bidding strategy and finally landed a 4* hotel on the very last bid I could place before I would have to wait 24hrs and start rebidding. Here are the details:4 star hotel9 nights, May 14-23Holiday Inn Kensington ForumWinning bid was $145.00 per night, all in is $1588 (I used your PRICELINE link)I've never stayed in this part of London (am usually north of Hyde Park or in Marylebone), so am excited about experiencing a new borough. The hotel gets great reviews on TripAdvisor, so I think I'll be happy there. Now I need to book hotels in SFO, LAX, Glasgow and Edinburgh! Will be using your links and will probably be asking for some help on these in the next few minutes. Thanks for your help and a great resource!
