Patrick Smith Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Bid USE $140 4 starsThen added USW $150 4 starsAccepted by The Prescott.Based on this priceline win it looks like I should have started lower and with USW. Lesson learned. But based on the reviews at TripAdvisor, I'm not that confident that The Prescott will measure up.I'm curious if there's any recourse with PRICELINE if the hotel doesn't meet 4-star standards? Thanks!Patrick
AaronJB Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)At $279 regular rate, still a nice discount for this Kimpton boutique. Hopefully the property will exceed expectations based upon tripadvisor reviews. However, if there are considerable problems, you can let Priceline know after your stay.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
thereuare Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!Sorry to see that you have concerns with the hotel you received. Unfortunately there are no industry standards for star ratings and its up to service providers to use their own criteria to rate hotels and 'police themselves' in regards to accuracy. You can contact PRICELINE and let them know of your concerns and provide the reviews you have read, letting them know that you question the 4* rating. If they've received some recent negative feedback on this property they may consider re-evaluating it and downgrade the property, but i wouldn't necessarily count on it.Best bet is to go with an open mind and if you find the room assigned unacceptable then talk to the front desk/management, explain the issues you have (ie- stick with tangible things, not things things like "it's outdated") and see if they can resolve the issues. If totally unacceptable you can try calling PRICELINE to work with the hotel on your behalf (although HOTWIRE is usually a little better in this regard). PRICELINE will send you a survey at the end of your trip and you should use that to give your thoughts and experience after your stay.On a positive note we often have users who are concerned with the reviews they have read for the property received, but return to report that everything was fine. Keep in mind that many reviews on the 'net are from guests who have paid full price, and if paying $279 you too may find issues with the hotel... but at $150 find that it was a very good value for the price paid.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Feel free to ask for help and/or confirm your bidding strategy before you bid for your next hotel stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck at the Prescott. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
