Priceline Hotel: Help with PL bidding in Chicago 5/13-5/17

Help! I'm attending a meeting in Chicago from 5/13 to 5/17 (yes, I am one of the 20,000!) I'm trying to bid on a 2.5 star hotel in the Millenium Pk-Loop region. Rejected at 70, rebid to 80 and added Midway North; rejected. Then added Franklin Pk at a rebid of 90 (w/ NO 2.5 star properties available on the list); the median retail price box at the bottom jumped down from 208 to $77. I stopped there because I didn't want to stay in FP if my bid was accepted. What's happening here?? Why did PL do this if there were no 2.5 hotel options for FP? Would I be safe to continue my rebid. Thanks for your guidance, and your patience as I am rather new at this!

The suggested median price algorithm used by PRICELINE is often flawed and i think what you're seeing above is just another example of this. Currently Franklin Park is a re-bid zone, BUT you don't want to use the hotel lists on the board to determine your re-bid zones, you want to use the method described here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained

You actually have THREE re-bid zones when bidding 2.5* in this area, please read the previous link and confirm your re-bid zones with the board if you're uncertain or if you have any questions.

HOWEVER, depending upon your needs and budget, you may also want to consider raising your star level. HOTWIRE has an 'outlyer' (meaning it's priced abnormally low vs. the other options) 4* hotel in the Loop zone for $113/nite. If your budget is flexible you may prefer a 4* at $113 vs. a 2.5* at $90, if so, i'd consider bidding 4* first up to your limit (which also gives you more re-bid zones) and if that is rejected, then weigh whether you want to lower your star level on PRICELINE or take this $113 4* HOTWIRE offer.
