BrianLo Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Hi! First timer but I found this board quite helpful so I wanted to make sure to pass this along! I'm going to a conference from the 28th-2nd and since Hilton is the partner prices are naturally elevated. (I was more than fine with the Delta as well) Since my conference is covered, as long as I could get the Hilton for a cheaper than a lesser hotel was my goal.I started with $85 for Quebec 05/28-05/30Then $100 for Quebec and Sainte Foy (since there were no additional 3.5*'s here)Then $120 for Quebec, Sainte Foy, and Beaufort (again no additional 3.5*'s +)No luck! Then I decided to see if I could at least pick up 3 days during the conference, so $85 for 05/30-06/02First time using Priceline, but then it basically gave me a message that because of the star level and hotels in the area, if I wanted to increase my offer to $110, I wouldn't have to expand my search. I thought that was weird but promising, and voila. Not sure if that was the best decision, but since it's $250 through the conference organizers I'm happy.ALSO! Apparently the Hilton is a 4* hotel now? On the master list it's listed as 3.5*. At the very least I hope that is helpful for people who want to start with 4* and move to 3.5*.Since it's my first time, if anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it.
