From looking at the possible hotels (and their rates from their respective websites), it looks like the Sheraton ($132 + tax), Doubletree ($135.15 + tax), or the Concourse ($209 + tax). The Hilton Manona Terrace is sold out on Sunday (from their website, and aggregate sites). I'm assuming it's the Sheraton, but yesterday's Hotwire search came up with $76 for a 3.5 star, and Sheraton's site listed their lowest rate at ($249 + tax). Any ideas?

Please start by reading your messages.

The amenities above match previous reports for the Sheraton Madison so that would be my best guess for this one.

I haven't booked yet. Yesterday's (5/4/11) price on hotwire for 3.5 stars = $76. Today's price on hotwire for 3.5 stars = $105. This happened the other week, too. Is it because I searched for the same dates 2 days in a row?

I'm looking to try PRICELINE now.

Rates can change at any time - Summer is certainly a popular season in Madison, and rates can certainly climb if traffic is higher than expected.

Which PRICELINE zones would be acceptable?

I am only interested in the University/Downtown area (which is already ludicrously large). I will place another bid on priceline this evening.

Last week I placed a bid on PL starting at $55, then $60 the next day. Yesterday (5/10/11) I placed a new bid for $70, which was not accepted. I was given a free bid if I increased it to $90; this bid was accepted for the Sheraton Madison, as expected. The price on HW at the time was $97, likely for the same place (e.g., 3.5* downtown Madison).
