soulfulms Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 I am in need of a 5 nt. stay in in the West Village... is the West village considered midtown? BTW...my stay will be 8/10-8/15.Thanks for your help...pat
thereuare Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Greenwich Village (the west Village) is its own area and not part of midtown. There are not many hotels in this area (which limits your abilty to get one via the opaque services). As i'm quite familiar with NYC, can i ask why you need to be in this area? As i posted earlier today, NYC is small enough and mass transit readily available (and inexpensive) that most nearby zones would suffice in lieu of most user's preferred zones. If you tell us more about the needs of your stay we can probably help you find your best options. Also, what star rating and type of budget are you consdidering? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
soulfulms Posted May 11, 2005 Author Report Posted May 11, 2005 I need to get my areas straight...I need 4 nights in the east village...near NYU...8/10-8/13...I have priced the Washington Square and would like to find something comprable, for less....thanks...Pat
thereuare Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Make sure you have your dates straight as well... did you just shorten this trip by 2 days? The 'problem' that you will have is that you can't target the NYC area on either Priceline or HOTWIRE. You can only specifiy the zone as defined by each service, and both of them use zones that are larger than "around NYC".However, i will add that from midtown to NYU via subway is less than a 15 minute trip. soulfulms Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 Hi,I intend to try Priceline and Hotwire and was wondering what area of NYC the east village; NYU is in so I can designate this when I bid? Thanks so much...Pat
thereuare Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Please keep all of your posts for this stay in this same thread.Priceline's map does not overlap the NYU area.HOTWIRE's map extends from NYU all the way to the lower tip of Manhattan (which is where most of the hotels in this zone are located) and if you end up there i don't think it's what you are looking for and you would be better off with a midtown location.I happen to know the area quite well and i think your options are to: 1) be a bit more flexible in your location given my comments above or 2) take the Washington Square Hotel. As you have not given us more details about your stay or the price of the Washington Square Hotel that you are trying to beat, i don't think we can be of much further help without more information. soulfulms Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 Thank you for your assist...which midtown location...east, west, north or south and where would the Wash. Sq. Hotel be located? Thanks again...Pat
thereuare Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 The Washington Square hotel is not in any midtown location.I'd recommend you get the address of where you need to be, look at it on MAPQUEST and then compare that to the zone boundaries on Priceline and Hotwire. However, if you're not from or never been to NYC, i'm trying to tell you that in all likelihood you don't really need to stay exactly where you need to be as most of the city is easily accessible to the NYU area.
