MBR Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just when I thought I had this figured out, Hotwire offers me other choices, that look a little better since I'm traveling with a 10 year old (e.g. breakfast + pool)Can you ID this propery? Also, what approach would you recommend I take if we need two rooms on the last night of our stay? Get all three nights for us, then add the second room at a conventional website, ortry to do two priceline/hotwire transactions (1 room for 2 nights, 2 rooms for 1 night) which would assure us of moving hotels (not THAT big a deal)? I know priceline lets you addadditional nights. Anyone know if you can add additional rooms? For dates 6/30 - 7/3/112 guests$1173-star hotel in Chicago Loop - Millenium Park - Grant ParkThis hotel features the following amenities:Complimentary BreakfastFitness CenterPoolBusiness CenterLaundry Facilities (self-service)High-Speed Internet Access
thereuare Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 It looks like you already booked 2 rooms at a hotwire hotel for the nites of 7/2-7/3... so does that now leave one room needed for 6/30-7/2 OR do you still need additional rooms for the nite of 7/2?Please list the nites you still need an the number of rooms needed for each nite and we'll review your options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MBR Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Exactly. This thread no longer relevant. I booked Allegro via HOTWIRE for two rooms for the night of 7/2, and am now trying to figure out what to do with 6/30 and 7/1, where I only need one room.....I looks like I did this backwards. I should have bid 1 room 3 nights on Hotwire, then added a second room for the last night. Now it looks like I have to switch hotels..... but I'm OK with that....
AaronJB Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 If you need one room for 6/30-7/2, I'm seeing the 3* noted above for $118. My guess for that would be the La Quinta Loop.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MBR Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 My PRICELINE bids over the past week for 3.5/4* for North Michigan Avenue have run up to $115, so now I'm looking at HOTWIRE again. Staying with my 10 year old daughter. We'd like to be close to stores, and maybe to a place to get bike rentals. Thanks so much in advance. I keep looking at the hotel list you have online and try to guess, but I keep getting it wrong :-) I keep thinking the Hyatt Regency might be a prime location for biking and window shopping Michigan Avenue, but don't know how to specify it. Staying 6/30 for two nights, one room, two people. Here are the current offers that catch my eye:$115 "Super Savings" North Mich Avenue/Water Tower Gold Coast (FOUR STAR) "Recommended 95% of Hotwire reviews"BoutiqueFitnessRestaurantBusinessHigh Speed Internet$134 North Mich Avenue/Water Tower Gold Coast (THREE AND A HALF STAR) "Recommended 85% of Hotwire reviews"BoutiqueFitnessRestaurantBusinessHigh Speed InternetGolf$135 Magnificent Mile Streeterville area (FOUR STAR) "Recommended 95% of Hotwire reviews"Bed ChoiceNo smokingFitnessRestaurantBusinessLaundryHigh Speed InternetSpa$132 Magnificent Mile Streetrville (THREE STAR) "Recommended 85% of Hotwire reviews" (Not my first choice rating-wise, but that free breakfast is always a win if the location is good enough....)BreakfastBusinessHigh speed internet
thereuare Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 The 4* NMA matches previous reports for both the Rafaello and the Sutton Place so either of these would be my best guess for this one... although i'll point out that the HOTWIRE is showing a TA rating for this property of 4.5 while the current TA rating for each of these properties are 4.0... however, this doesn't exclude these properties since the HOTWIRE info is not updated in real time (HOTWIRE only updates this information about once per month) so the TA rating may have changed since HOTWIRE's last update.Given this property is 4* rated, has a 95% user recommendation from previous guests, is 4.5 (or possibily 4.0) rated by Tripadvisor, and priced less than all the other properties... are the others a realistic option? As well, if you're considering these $135 HOTWIRE hotels, would you first bid up to this amount via PRICELINE?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Bobby's Bike Hike is probably the most commonly used downtown rental, which is just down the street a tad from Navy Pier. The route that I would recommend would be to head along the Lake starting NW of Navy Pier - there's a small beach and start of the Lakefront trail, which heads pretty far North. However, I would recommend exiting the trail right before North Ave Beach and then going West slightly on North Ave, then going North into Lincoln Park and heading North through Lincoln Park to the Zoo area. If you were able to get the Sutton via HOTWIRE, that's a very nice property in the Gold Coast neighborhood, and you could walk from there to Lincoln Park/LP Zoo.
MBR Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 The Rafaelo looks amazing, but I think I'd be disappointed in the walk from Sutton Place..... So I guess to answer your questions, I tried Priceline first figuring I'd deal with a walk for a sub $100 room. Now that I'm in the $130 price range, I'd like to see if I could be pickier about location. Are any of the above properties identifiable? How can I determine the Hyatt Regency?
thereuare Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Best guess for each would be as follows:$134 North Mich Avenue/Water Tower Gold Coast (THREE AND A HALF STAR)Whitehall downgraded to 3.5*?$135 Magnificent Mile Streeterville area (FOUR STAR)Hyatt Regency Chicago$132 Magnificent Mile Streetrville (THREE STAR)"Recommended 85% of Hotwire reviews"Holiday Inn Express Hotel CassPlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 On Expedia, for $179 per night you get a hotel credit of $75 for the entire stay. Plus, coupon code BRIGHT11 takes $10 off per night. So, for $169, you'd get a $75 credit w/the hotel (not per night, but for the stay as a whole.) Just an option to consider versus the $135 discounted rate.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MBR Posted April 29, 2011 Author Report Posted April 29, 2011 Thank you Aaron and Theureaure.
