Wanted to report this success. As the rates for this time are crazy, I have split my dates and am now looking further for sth. May 10-12.

Am really excited about the W Hoboken.

Any tips for the area?

Am using your links for my searches on both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.

Cheers

Amenities for the W were in line with the ones you posted: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis, so it was easy for me to know in advance.

Tips for shopping and breakfast options would be great. For the rest of meals and bars, I guess we'd do that in the city. But if there's anything worth checking out in the area, I'd appreciate that also. Budget is "normal" range, so doesn't need to be too cheap, but should also be nice. (Not 100$ per meal nice though :))

Thanks!

There's really not too much shopping in Hoboken... although a BIG TOWN/SMALL CITY, they do a pretty good job at maintaining a small town feel and have kept the big retailers out. If you walk down the main st (Washington St) you'll see it's mostly restaurants, bars, nail salons, and real estate offices... there are a few small boutique shops scattered here and there, but nothing with too large of a selection that i would go out of my way to visit any of them.

I don't have any 'great' breakfast suggestions either... Starbucks is a block away (and another one on your way to the PATH), there is a breakfast place nearby Hoboken Gourmet (on Washington between 4th and 5th street, just before 5th St and next to a Super Cuts) which does pretty good and this time of year has some outdoor seating which is nice, but not likely anything that will 'blow you away'. There is also a pancake place about a year old, called Stacks, but again... nothing special, imo. There is JPs Bagels on the corner of Hudson St and Newark St where you can grab a bagel and take it with your on the PATH train to the city (or grab one of the 3-4 tables they may have set-up outside).

I would sooner use Hoboken as a place to grab a few drinks after your return from the city, grab some great sub sandwiches from any of the old school local delis which make their own fresh mozzarella (Vito's and Fiore's are my favorites... Fiores a bit more old school then Vito's... you can get from either and then go to 'overlook point' at Stevens or Pier C to eat, both of which have unparalleled NYC views), and/or a place for dinner (a few select restaurants are quite good) and drinks one nite as a cheaper alternative to going out in the Manhattan.
