yellowdog Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Any special strategies for getting any of the Yorkville based hotels (Intercontinental or the Marriot)? No, you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. You mention DT South in your topic. Both Intercontinental and Marriot Yorkville is located in the DT North zone by boards last reports. Generally would I be bidding higher for two rooms? No, you shouldn't start bidding higher for this reason. How big is your party?Let us know how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
zeitgeist1911 Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 We are a group of 4 and need two hotel rooms. And I did make a mistake- we are hoping for Downtown North. It's too bad bc Downtown North is a large geography.Anyone know if this year is a higher price in Toronto compared to the last few years?
AaronJB Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Rates vary year/over/year, but the trend has generally been higher rates in major cities this year. You would not have to bid unusually higher when two rooms are involved vs. one room. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
zeitgeist1911 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Report Posted May 5, 2011 Something around 120 for each room. Would that be too low?
thereuare Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 If you're willing to accept any 4* hotel in the Downtown North zone i'd bid as follows:At the 4* level you have TEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Dowtnown North...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $83, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $88, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
