New York help 9/6-9/20

So here i go, my first post. :)

I apologize in advance if i don't include all the relevant information needed for all you BB masters.

Cutting a very long story short i am looking for hotel in New York city in September.

The dates in question are 6th - 20th - yep that 14 nights. A long time i know.

I would ideally like to stay in one of the following areas, MTE, MTW, ESB and CPS.

Now i would say that i would love to stay in a 3.5* or above but would probably take a 3*

And finally the $$$$, well i have the option to take a $129 a night hotel in long island, not the best i know but thats what i want to spend.

So maybe between $80 and $120, am i asking for miracles, i don't know?

Please Help, BB masters you are my only hope! :)

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Unfortunately, $80-120 is not likely going to be realistic for a 3* for these dates - September is generally busy/expensive in NYC. My guess is that - based on rates I'm seeing for these dates currently - a 3* in these zones may take $145-175, and possibly moderately higher. Rates MAY come down a bit if traffic comes in slower for the September period than expected, but I'm guessing $120 for a 3* very well may still be enough for Midtown for this period. I definitely understand wanting to stay on a budget, but I would consider the time/travel cost advantage of staying in the city versus staying in Long Island, especially for two weeks.

Hi all,

Thanks for making my understanding of the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE process a little easier.

Right so my aim is to stay in Manhattan in the following areas CPS, ESB, MTE, MTW, TS then if i have to Chelsea or DTS.

The star level i would like is 3* or above.

My budget is obviously as least as possible but i would go up to $125 excluding tax.

The dates are 6/24 - 7/08. Now i know that from reading the boards that having a bid for a two week stay is very improbable - should i continue with this or should i maybe split into two?

Also any bidding strategy is greatly appreciated.

Is it difficult to stay in NYC around the 4th July?

Thanks for all your help

Hi again,

Sorry about being a newbie to all of this, I have decided to look at two options due to flight costs.

This initial post was in September as that is when my partners 40 birthday is, so I wanted to surprise her.

However I am looking at the possibility of taking in the 4th of July celebration period as an early gift instead.

So I will find out what I can from both Threads and that take a decision based on the actually probability of getting rooms and decide on the merits of them both.

Once I have i will close threads, when I learn how to.

Thanks in advance and thanks for your patience

Since this is ultimately only one stay please keep all posts for this trip in this same thread.

Based upon current rates your budget of $125 (before fees and taxes) may be enough for the June/July timeframe, but almost certainly won't be enough for the September dates.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
